What is troposphere

It is the lowermost layer of the atmosphere which extends from surface to the bottom of the stratosphere. All the weather activity happen in this layer. It has 80% mass of the earth atmosphere. It extends from surface is 18km.


The temperature decreases with increasing height but it stop decreasing at tropopause. In stratosphere the temperature is either stable or increases with increasing height.


Tropopause is located at an altitude of around 5 to 6 miles in the winter, to around 8 miles in the summer and as high as 11 to 13 in the deep tropics.


Tropical area receive most of the sun rays so because of this it also has high rainfall, Compared to sub-tropical and polar region.
